Introduction: Marriage is defined as the union of a man and a woman and has been so for many years. Nowadays the controversial topic of same sex marriage or gay marriage is causing outbursts in the public and Government, especially those who are religious and find the union of two men or two women is a sin against God and the Church. The debate against legalizing same-sex marriage consists of arguments insisting that if two people love each other they should be able to marry, contradicting the current legislation of the union of a man and a women and ultimately comes down to human equality. Equality is defined as ‘the state of being equal, especially in status, rights, or opportunities’ (Oxford Dictionaries, 2015). In response to the article there is comment stated containing a strawman fallacy; Argument and Fallacy One: Shorten will do anything to distract the public’s attention away from the tough terrorism measures. He knows that if the public think about it for too long, they might start giving Abbott some credit. So he goes for something emotional, but which doesn’t really matter in the big scheme of things.
